ABOUT ME
Born in London, England, Cheetah Richards now lives in Australia. From a young age, she traveled widely, absorbing the colours, emotions, and stories of life—experiences that continue to inspire her writing.
Cheetah’s debut novel, 1831: Through the Eyes of a Convict, is the culmination of decades of research and a lifelong fascination with colonial and convict history. Over five years, she explored convict records, historical journals, and firsthand accounts, uncovering the hardships, resilience, and hidden voices of those who lived in that era. Drawing on true stories, the novel is a gripping and macabre tale of murder, mayhem, love, and lust, brought to life with authentic illustrations of nineteenth-century convict life.
Her passion for history and storytelling continues with her next work, The Barrier Nightingale, a true story of obsessive love set on Great Barrier Island in New Zealand. The novel traces the intense and dramatic romance of a ship’s captain, unfolding against the stunning and isolated island landscape.
Through her writing, Cheetah brings forgotten voices to life, illuminating history with vivid detail, emotional depth, and compelling narratives. Her work invites readers to witness the courage, passion, and complexities of those who came before us, exploring timeless themes of love, obsession, and survival.
